Installing Dialogic Boards (Win95/Win98*)

Fortunately the Dialogic boards and drivers are dependable.  Unfortunately the documentation for installing them is unclear.  For this reason we are supplying this document to aid in their installation and configuration.  This document will help you configure your Dialogic board for use with Microsoft’s Telephony Application Programming Interface (TAPI) and ExceleTel TeleTools.  However, you should still follow the instructions supplied with your Dialogic board.  This document will help to guide you through the mountain of information.

At the time this document was prepared the Dialogic Development Package v3.0 for Windows 95 was available.

*Dialogic does not Support Windows 98/ME.  However, we have found that these drivers appear to work with Windows 98 in many cases.  Unfortunately, if there are difficulties, since no support is available from Dialogic for Windows 98/ME, neither Dialogic or ExceleTel will be able to assist you further.

ExceleTel strongly suggests that you use Windows 2000/NT4 with Dialogic products rather than Windows 95/98/ME.

The Windows 95 drivers contain a subset of the features offered under Windows 2000/NT4.  For example you will not be able to monitor for tones or silence and the configuration options are limited.

There are four procedures that you will need to follow:

  • Installing the Dialogic Hardware
  • Installing the Dialogic Software
  • Configuring the Dialogic Drivers
  • Configuring the Dialogic Telephony Service Provider (TSP) for TAPI

You will need to perform these procedures in order!
